Exploring new locations as a photographer is always an exciting adventure, and my recent family session at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., was a perfect example. This iconic cultural venue set the stage for a beautiful photo session with the Morimon family, and I can’t wait to share the details of this stylish and natural experience.
Preparation and Exploration: Embracing the Unknown
Every session has its own unique dynamic, and being my first time at the Kennedy Center, I decided to arrive early to explore the venue and study the morning light. This extra step made all the difference, as I identified the best angles and spots to make the most of this unique location. While I usually schedule sessions either early in the morning or at sunset, this time the late morning light during this season surprised me—it was soft and manageable, even at a later hour.
The Morimon's Family: Style and Connection
Carmen and Marc, along with their children, Nico and Cami, arrived looking impeccable for their session. Their wardrobe choices perfectly complemented the elegance of the Kennedy Center. This visual harmony between the people, the location, and the colors is key to creating standout photographs.
Interestingly, this session was initially planned for Puerto Rico, but the weather forced us to reschedule. It was such a pleasure to see Carmen reach out again, and this time, we managed to coordinate in D.C., finally meeting in person.

One of the most memorable aspects was the opportunity to photograph both inside and outside the Kennedy Center. Indoors, the hanging chandeliers and elegant architecture provided a sophisticated and unique backdrop. However, the real highlight was heading up to the rooftop. From there, the breathtaking views of Washington, D.C., added a truly magical touch to the photos.
