When I arrived at Old Town Alexandria in Virginia, my first thought was, I need coffee. It wasn’t just a casual desire—it was essential to brace for the freezing morning ahead. We kicked off the day at a cozy Starbucks near our starting point, a warm refuge before facing temperatures hovering around 30°F but feeling like 25°F with the windchill.
This session was more than just capturing photos; it was about celebrating the unique love story of Glorian and Gabriel. She, a proud Puerto Rican from Bayamón, and he, born in Boston with Puerto Rican and Spanish roots, have a connection straight out of a romantic film. Their love story began right here in Old Town Alexandria, where they met at Virtue restaurant on the iconic King Street. Both whisky lovers and devoted pet enthusiasts, they radiated a love so genuine that it outshone the cold.
The Session: From the Waterfront to Wilkes Street Tunnel
We began our adventure at the Old Town Alexandria Waterfront, a vibrant spot with stunning views. As we strolled down Price Street, we discovered charming corners perfect for intimate shots. On their favorite street, Glorian and Gabriel’s laughter and affectionate glances melted away the morning chill, creating images filled with warmth and joy.
The highlight of the session was undoubtedly the Wilkes Street Tunnel. This hidden gem reminded me so much of my beloved Old San Juan. There’s something magical about walking through historical tunnels, capturing textures, shadows, and light all in one frame. Unlike Puerto Rico, where I often work around intense sunlight, here we embraced the soft winter rays to warm up and add a unique glow to their portraits. This was Glorian’s idea, and I couldn’t agree more—it worked perfectly.
Before wrapping up, we took in the breathtaking views of the Woodrow Wilson Memorial Bridge and Washington. The iconic backdrop added an almost cinematic feel to the session, giving their story the grandeur it deserved.
More Than Clients!
Working with Glorian and Gabriel felt like reconnecting with old friends. From the moment we met, their energy, love, and trust inspired me to capture their story authentically. Their warmth, despite the freezing weather, made this session not just memorable but truly rewarding.
This was also a personal milestone for me—it was my first session in such cold weather! Yet, every challenge felt worth it as I witnessed their love shine through, making every moment unforgettable.
This engagement session left me with more than beautiful photos; it left me with cherished memories. From sharing a warm coffee on a frosty morning to exploring picturesque locations tailored perfectly to Glorian and Gabriel’s story, every moment was a joy.
If you're considering Old Town Alexandria for your engagement session, let me tell you, it’s a location that doesn’t disappoint. And if you’re looking for someone to capture your love story with passion and authenticity, you know where to find me.
