When I met Rachael and Ariel, I could tell instantly this was going to be a session filled with joy. Their chemistry is the kind you can feel just by being near them—two coffee lovers, deeply in love, grounded, humble, and incredibly kind. Ariel is originally from El Salvador and Rachael from Towson, Baltimore. They met in college, and soon they’ll be sealing their love at the altar.
From our first meeting, it was clear: these two were not only excited about their photos, but simply excited about each other. That kind of energy makes everything flow in front of the lens. And the fact that both speak Spanish and English made the whole session feel like a fun, spontaneous Spanglish adventure.
A Rainy Day, A Perfect Mood
That morning, I emailed them with a bit of concern, the weather forecast wasn’t looking great. But Rachael’s reply changed the mood completely: “We love the rain! We’ll make it work with an umbrella!” That message said it all. Instead of rescheduling, we embraced the drizzle and turned it into something special.
The result? A rainy day engagement session in Baltimore that felt straight out of a romantic film.
Starting at the Lake – Latrobe Pavilion
We began the session at the Latrobe Pavilion, facing the lake at Druid Hill Park. The view was calm, with the soft reflection of the trees on the water and the misty light wrapping the scene in a soft glow. From there, we wandered toward the Moorish Tower, which gave us a unique backdrop that blended nature, architecture, and a glimpse of the city skyline in the distance.
While we walked, we even crossed paths with a small family of deer—yes, in the middle of the city! We paused to admire them quietly, umbrella in hand, with that peaceful Baltimore drizzle never really stopping… but never bothering us either.
The Light Only Rain Can Bring
If you’ve photographed or been photographed on a cloudy or rainy day, you know: the light is different. Soft, even, flattering. That day, it wrapped around Rachael and Ariel like it was made for them. Their smiles never faded—not even for a second. That little bit of shyness that only comes out when love is real? It was all there, and it was beautiful to capture.
As we moved through the park, I felt like I was walking with two friends. You could see how much they cared for each other with every glance and every step. They’re the kind of people you just want to root for—kind-hearted professionals who make you feel at ease just by being around them.
A Genuine Experience
This session was a reminder of something I’ve come to appreciate deeply as a wedding photographer: the best images come when the vibe is right, not just the location or the light. And thanks to Rachael and Ariel, the vibe was more than right—it was joyful, loving, and authentic.
Even in the drizzle, we created something full of warmth. The final gallery speaks for itself: a genuine reflection of two people who are ready to take on life together.
